Antique bronze and crystal chandeliers are masterpieces that add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any interior. Often handcrafted, these chandeliers feature a harmonious marriage between the robustness of bronze and the delicacy of crystal. Bronze, with its gilded, patinated finish, offers a classic, timeless aesthetic, while crystal, often carefully cut, captures and diffuses light spectacularly, creating enchanting plays of reflections. These chandeliers were often the symbol of luxury in aristocratic homes and continue to be prized for their beauty and ability to transform a space. Whether in a living room, dining room or entrance hall, they create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
These absolutely magnificent chandeliers adorn many prestigious venues such as palaces, museums and castles.
Repairing antique gilded bronze and crystal chandeliers is a delicate art, requiring both skill and extreme dexterity. Any unfortunate gesture can have disastrous consequences. During this operation, it is essential to preserve the aesthetic and historical integrity of the chandelier.
It all starts with a careful inspection to identify damaged or missing parts, whether broken arms, deteriorated chains or chipped crystals.
First and foremost, it is necessary to decipher the electrical network that will enable it to operate safely.
Connections are almost always located close to the center of the chandelier, making them particularly difficult to access, especially when the diameter of the chandelier is large.
You have to squeeze between the arms of the chandelier and the many crystals, prisms, papillae and pendants that adorn it.
This is a particularly difficult operation.
Once the wiring has been completed, all connections must be checked and, if necessary, rewired.
Older wires are often surrounded by textile fibers, with very fine conductors.
Years of using filament bulbs have caused these conductors to heat up and become very fragile.
We can so many electrical problems without removing the chandelier.
When bronze or brass components break, we can remake them in our workshops and install them on site.
While it is sometimes possible to manufacture components in our workshops and then reassemble them without taking the chandelier down, it may be necessary to unhook it in order to dismantle it safely.
If the repair is more extensive, we can easily transport it to our workshop, repair and reconnect it.
