Le Fives-Lille De Bruyn earthenware dish is a rare and magnificent example of French decorative art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Made in the workshops of the Fives-Lille Pottery Factory under the direction of Gustave De Bruynthis large decorative dish entitled "Flight over Paris" ("View of Paris taken from St Gervais") perfectly illustrates the know-how of French ceramists of the Belle Époque.

Crafted from earthenware with a raised rim, the dish is distinguished by the delicacy of its decoration. The polychrome painting and silkscreen printing depict a panoramic view of Paris from Saint-Gervais. The bridges over the Seine, the domes and rooftops of the capital are clearly visible, with the slender silhouette of the Eiffel Tower on the horizon. The floral border, in shades of soft green and golden beige, reflects the refinement of the Art Nouveau style and lends the scene an impression of movement and lightness.

With a diameter of 36 cm, this Fives-Lille De Bruyn earthenware dish bears the clear mark on the reverse “DB – Fives-Lille Pottery”, attesting to its origin in the famous factory in Northern France.
